Royal Selangor's Autumn 2009 Collection

Royal Selangor refreshes its collection with artistic interpretations of traditions and cultural influences from the east and west.

Encompassing contemporary and classical designs, the new introduction complements the eclectic style of today's home interior. The ensemble includes minimalist contemporary designs of Monsoon, elegant and classical pieces from Tracery and Classic Frames, charming accessories from Bag Hooks, spiritually inspired figurines from Dharma and modern eclectic pieces for the home from Five Elements and Dragon.

The highlight of Autumn is a brand new collection designed by Hong Kong designer Freeman Lau. Interpreting fascinating concepts of the Five Elements into beautiful designs, Freeman has come up with a range of functional and decorative items. They include a tea set, tea caddies, a mug, a pair of plaques and five pendants.

Created in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, Tracery is a collection of eight wine accoutrements inspired by delicate patterns created by curvilinear openwork used in buildings of the 14th century. The introduction of the collection coincides with the opening of the V&A's Medieval and Renaissance galleries in November 2009.

Crafted in satin finish pewter, the minimalist Monsoon collection comprises a pitcher, tumbler and tray. Simple and modern, Monsoon's clean and stylish designs will fit into any contemporary home or office.

The spirit of the dragon is immortalized in the modern and eclectic Dragon collection of desk accessories. Bold and ornate dragon motifs are worked into simple and modern shapes derived from the Chinese lantern. Comprising pen caddy, memo holder, 4GB flash drive, card holder, letter opener clock and trinket box, the designs are inspired by rich silk brocade and oriental styling.

Another collection inspired by Eastern traditions and art form is Dharma. Looking at the beauty of Gandaran and Tibetan art forms, the collection has five figurines, four of which feature symbolic hand gestures or mudras that have existed in Asian cultures and religions since antiquity.

Tired of holding your handbag on your lap, or leaving it on the floor when dining in the restaurant? Royal Selangor is introducing for the first time its collection of Bag Hooks. Elegant, tactile and handy, these bag hooks are a fashion statement and certain to be conversation pieces at any dinner party.

Due to encouraging response to its Classic Frames collection, the company is also introducing three new sizes - 6R, 8R and square to its Reed and Empire frames. Decorated with delicate patterns of classical origins, these understated and elegant designs make perfect gifts for any occasion.
